"O great and loving Creator of all that is, seen and unseen, mysterious and unknowable, we cover our eyes this evening to shield ourselves from the radiance of our own hopefulness.
We who cannot cast our eyes directly upon you, who can only see you from our small worldview, we gather together to see you reflected in the eyes and lives of those we join with this evening. Let everyone of us acknowledge what we cannot yet know and love one another with grace, humility, and gratitude. Let us be grateful for these people who serve so tirelessly; they are the gardeners who help our souls blossom.
Bless our friends, bless our food.
Come, O Mystery, and sit with us.
May our talk glow with peace,
Bring Your love to surround us.
May friendship and peace bloom and grow and spread among all the peoples just as You have always intended.
Holy One of Blessing, Your presence fills creation. You nourish the world with goodness and sustain it with grace, loving-kindness, and mercy. You provide food for every living thing not because we are good but because you are.
Because of Your great goodness, the earth yields its fruit, our community flourishes, and we are blessed with leaders like the ones we recognize this evening.
May this food restore our strength, giving new energy to tired limbs, new thoughts to weary minds. May this drink restore our souls, giving new vision to dry spirits, new warmth to cold hearts. And, once refreshed, may we give new pleasure to You by loving one another wholeheartedly.
We give thanks in the name of All that is Holy. Amen."
Know you are blessed,
