The Buddhist teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, wants his students to use a daily mantra like this:
“Waking up this morning, I smile.
Twenty-four brand new hours are before me.
Vow to live fully in each moment
and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion."
It would be impossible for most of us to “live fully” into the new day if we didn’t enjoy what we are doing OR to look upon everything with compassion.
Living fully, loving what we do, each come from a manifestation of the Golden Rule, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” which is common to all the world religions. May the Golden Rule be visible in everything we do.
