Medicare’s home health care benefit does not cover:
• 24-hour a day care at home.
• Most prescription drugs. To get Medicare drug coverage, you have to join a Medicare private drug plan.
• Meals delivered to your home.
• Homemaker or custodial care services. Medicare does not pay for housekeeping services such as cooking, shopping, and laundry under any circumstance.
• Personal care unless you also need skilled nursing or therapy care. Personal care such as bathing, feeding and giving medications are not covered by Medicare when no skilled nursing or therapy services are needed.
